the old hundredth

10/30/07

Okay, so I covered Whiskyfest in New York City last night as a journalist, sampling and making tasting notes for almost 20 different single-malt scotches. Full report later for anyone who wants it, but right now I’d like to thank the following two products:

HangoverStopper(bl).jpg

Hangover Stopper – 2 pills when you start, then two every other drink

ChaserPills(bl).jpg

Chaser Pills – two when you start, then one every other drink

I should be in an alley in Hell’s Kitchen singing pirate songs with my shirt untucked and stinking of urine, but instead I’m sober and writing a blog! YAY hangover technology!

I guess whisky tastings are different, I just figured you spit out the liquid after tasting, like with wine.
I’m partial to the Islay Single Malts and love Laphroaig and Ardbeg. Bowmore’s pretty good as well.

Yay! Hangover technology — proudly brought to you by the some enterprising free marketeer. When the government takes over health care, say goodbye to such life-saving technology.

Absolutely. MADD will get their “intoxilyzer in every car” technology made mandatory, and Texas’s “illegal to be drunk in a bar” will spread across the nation. Because they’re from the government, and they’re here to help.
On the other hand, I’d really like to know what the technology/chemistry is of these two products. I’ve always gone with one glass of water as my chaser to ward off hangovers.

Here’s my little PSA for the day: BUY A BACKUP DRIVE FOR YOUR COMPUTER! Yes, I am writing to you from my brand new HP PC, because my old one decided to die and send me to hell. In a strange coincidence, it happened on the same day we fled the fires. Anyway, that worked out fine for us, but the computer hard drive has been sent away to some company that specializes in data retrieval. Here’s the thing: my husband was doing backups to disks. But for some reason, which still defies logic, he was not backing up my photos. Three years worth. Since my youngest child was born. I’m really bad at printing things, because I thought all was fine. I was wrong. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL DIGITAL PHOTOS, learn from my misfortune. Do it today people.
    Thank you for your time.
PS – the backup drive is about $100. My data retrieval company quoted us $500-2,400. Merry Christmas to me!
